Epiteth and Character Pair Up
a.
Recap the student of the previous lesson about “What
makes an epic “epic”?”
Epithet – word/phrase that names
some characteristics or object associated with a personal thing.
Example:
“lovely-haired women of Troy”
“Trojans, breakers of horses”

b.
Students will be given pictures of characters from The
Iliad and epiteths. The students holding a picture of a character will pair
with the student holding an epiteth written in strips of manila paper.
c.
Male students will be paired with female students. They
will be given ten minutes to write an epiteth for each other. Afterwards, they
will present their epiteths to the class.
2.
Eulogy Off
a.
The group will pick a name of a character from the
Iliad through draw lots. They will write and recite a eulogy for Achilles from
the point of view of the following characters;
1.Priam 3. Hector 5. Athena
2.Thetis 4.
Patroclus 6. Agamemnon
